2021 Product Specification Standards for Die Castings

This manual covers specification, design and production guidance for both users and manufacturers of conventional high pressure die castings. The manual presents tooling and processes information, alloy properties, standard and precision tolerances, GD&T, design guidelines, quality assurance provisions and more.

Revisions for this edition include: added information on die texturing; moved information on selecting an alloy family to the beginning of the chapter; replaced alloy specification QQ-A-591 with ISO alloy designations in the cross reference table (QQ-A-591 is now listed in the notes where applicable for reference); removed C443 from the aluminum alloy tables; removed tables based on WPIs research for variations of A380 (these are still accessible in the NADCA Technical Archives); added metric values for specific aluminum alloys table; draft guidelines were revised; additional information included for GD&T in die casting; added information on ejector pins; separated simulation into two sections (lean manufacturing and simulation) to properly identify the content included; added a structural quality requirements section; revised wording for die ownership and maintenance practices; minor typographical errors have been corrected; and photographs have been updated throughout.
