NADCA Virtual Reality Fire Safety Training Available Now

NADCA has partnered with Purdue University Northwest to develop a fire safety training program that utilizes the Meta Oculus Quest headset for an immersive VR experience. This training allows a user to become familiar with the steps for using a fire extinguisher, choosing the correct type of fire extinguisher, and the dangers of mixing water with molten metal. There are four training scenarios that walk the user through proper procedures for putting out fires in a die casting environment.

A Meta Quest 2 or Quest Pro is required to use the software. NADCA members interested in using the software should send an email to Beau Glim (glim@diecasting.org), which includes the email address linked to the Quest headset that will be used. The program will be sent to the headset and a passcode will be emailed back. The passcode will need to be entered the first time using the program, but will need to be updated at the beginning of each year. The software is free to use for NADCA Corporate Members and is free until the end of 2023 for NADCA Individual Members in North America. Non-members will be able to purchase access to the training starting in November.
