An Industrial Engineering Student

Rodrigo Gutierrez

Rodrigo Gutierrez is currently studying industrial engineering at Harper College, and will be transferring to the University of Illinois at Chicago. Through his internship at MAGMA Foundry Technologies, Gutierrez was given the opportunity to work with some of the most advanced technology available to foundry engineers. At MAGMA, he worked primarily on a project to find the best gating design for a casting. He would evaluate existing runners through simulation, and based on the results, he would then create his own runner design to re-analyze it with software and make recommendations. His internship allowed for him to work on projects involving both hot chamber and cold chamber machines and projects with aluminum, magnesium and zinc. Gutierrez said the experience he gained from working with professionals like the team of engineers at MAGMA was one of a kind.
