Care and Maintenance of Die Casting Dies: Manual and Checklist

This publication was prepared by the NADCA Die Materials Committee to provide a foundation on which to build a full die care maintenance program. Die casters can use this book as a reference to get longer tool life and improved performance. There are events in the life of a die casting die. These events are: New Die Buy-off; Die Setup; Routine and Preventative Maintenance; New Die Tryout and Sampling; Die Startup; Performance Evaluation; and As the Die Wears Out. This book has a section devoted to each of these events listed. Each section also includes a short description of the situation at each event and then has a checklist of those things that should be done at that time to insure the greatest possible life and performance from a die casting die. The checklists can be duplicated and used for each die in a die casting facility.
