Dimensional Repeatability of the Die Casting Process
This text
presents analyses of several of the more
significant variables that cause dimensional
variation between castings. Some of the
variations discussed include linear dimensions,
dimensions across the parting line and casting
warpage. Variables discussed include shrinkage
during quench, die temperature, casting ejection
temperature, shot speed, die locking forces and
gating. New for this edition is a valuable
discussion of measurement system variation in
casting plants, as well as methods to calculate
measurement system variation. This information
is based on a study conducted by the
Pennsylvania State University.
