The U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission held a public hearing
in April on China’s WTO Compliance and Industrial Subsidies.
The hearing
assessed China’s compliance with its World Trade Organization accession
agreement on subsidies, examined what constitutes China’s subsidy regime,
evaluated the level of transparency of China’s economic planning process,
and identified how China’s industrial subsidies negatively or positively
affect U.S. companies, investors, and workers.
The Commission also heard from a representative of the office of the U.S.
Trade Representative, as well as experts in the private sector and academic
authorities on China’s industrial subsidies.
