HyperCAST R&D
Joint Senate Letter
Across the nation, there is a growing awareness of the need to dramatically curtail wasteful energy consumption and reduce carbon emissions. On Capitol Hill, climate change has been the subject of hearings and new legislation.  In addition, President Bush addressed energy security in his State of the Union address.  A prime target for improved energy efficiency is in the automotive and vehicle industry.   In fact, maximizing energy efficiency and reducing carbon emissions in our domestic transportation system has become a matter of economic security and environmental necessity.

NADCA is collaborating with the U.S. Department of Energy and university researchers across the country on an innovative new research and development program aimed at rapidly advancing these goals.  This program, known as HyperCAST, focuses on the development of materials and processes for cast light weight components for fuel efficient passenger cars and both commercial and military trucks.  For more information on the HyperCAST Program click here to read the one-page information sheet from the 2007 Government Affairs Briefing.

On May 4, 2007, eight U.S. Senators joined together across party lines to support HyperCAST by signing a joint letter addressed to the Chairman and Ranking Republican of the Appropriations Committee.  Please take a moment to send a thank you note to the listed Senators who signed this letter, a draft letter is available below for your use.
