Die casting is driven by the extraction of heat from the liquid metal in the die cavity. Much of successful casting is based on being able to control heat flow in the die casting die. This series is designed to provide an overview of the state of art in controlling the heat flow in die casting dies. Similar to the porosity webinar series this series will cover much of the research work that has been collected over the last 50 year.

Die spray is essential for applying release agent to the die. It is also used to help control the die temperature and temperature distribution. This webinar will give an overview of the literature addressing spray. The overview will finish with applications and areas to explore in your own plant to reduce spray use and casting defects.
