Porosity Series
NADCA surveyed designers and purchasers about the advantages and problems with die cast components. The companies that used die cast products were asked to identify some of the common problems they encounter with die castings. More than one in three specifically identified `Porosity as a common problem. Another third identified defects as a common problem with die castings. Most casting defects are related to porosity in some way. Therefore, it is safe to say that porosity is partially responsible for two thirds of all die casting problems. Since porosity is such a common concern among die casters, NADCA has created a series of webinars focusing on the various aspects of porosity.
Predicting and Measuring Porosity Webinar
Achieve reduced porosity through adequate measurement and prediction. This webinar will discuss different ways to predict porosity. In addition it will explain some basics of digital porosity measurement. Any successful porosity reduction program must include porosity prediction and measurement. The following topics are addressed in this : Porosity Prediction 1. Why you cannot ignore shrink porosity 2. Porosity Simulations 3. Estimate Porosity with your current Simulations 4. Melt Cleanliness 5. Part Design Basic of measuring 1. NADCA Product specification standard 2. Basics of Digital Measurement 3. CT scanning Participant Q&A session (10-15 minutes).
