Die Cast Process Engineer


Do you enjoy brand new equipment where you will create and then support processes and systems to support our die casting environment? Madison-Kipp is looking for an experienced Die Cast Process Engineer to join our Madison-Kipp Team. We are looking for a strong leader and mentor for this position. 

POSITION SUMMARY 
Provide engineering and production support to die casting operations by developing and maintaining robust processes, while striving to achieve lowest cost and highest quality production methods. Ensure that customer specified quality levels are met or exceeded. Support launch of new products through APQP launch process as needed.

 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Responsible for overseeing all activity associated with the die casting process to include design, simulation, build of mold and trim tools; process development of the die casting process; technical choice and use of perishables (lube, sleeves, tips, spray manifolds, etc.).
  • Perform launch activity to design, document, and develop new castings in aluminum alloy.  
  • Implement cost reduction ideas or projects, which increase uptime, reduce scrap, and increase throughput.
  • Practice continuous improvement of key casting systems such as mold, lubrication, ladling metal, extraction and process monitoring.
  • Identify, requisition and implement equipment to support the production of new or existing processes in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Identify bottlenecks, increase throughput, reduce inventory and non-value added activity.
  • Support estimating process as required
  • Support launch teams in the development of APQP documents such as inspection sheets, process flow, PFMEA, and control plans.
  • Implement both internal and external change requests including cavity replace.

  • QUALIFICATIONS 
  • Prefer BS degree in Engineering, Industrial technology, or other related technical science fields. Two-year degree in Mechanical fields considered depending on experience. Three+ years engineering experience in manufacturing environment, preferably in casting, injection molding, machining, or light assembly.

  • Computer literate with the ability to learn new software quickly.

    Metallurgical Engineer

    POSITION SUMMARY  The Process Metallurgical Engineer provides technical expertise to develop and improve manufacturing processes. Provide metallurgical engineering to die casting operations by developing and maintaining robust processes.  

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Maintain manufacturing practices and procedures to optimize product quality/performance.
  • Coordinate with Production Managers and ensure continuous improvement of all plants in terms of productivity and technical reliability.
  • Deal with all aspects of the production and application of aluminum and other alloys.
  • Create combinations of alloys that provide the aluminum in the correct composition.
  • Use advanced equipment such as X-ray devices, electron microscopes and spectrographs for research and development.
  • Develop, document, and provide training of standard work.
  • Investigate and resolve non-conforming material.
  • Work in cross-functional teams to support plant business goals and objectives.
  • Lead and/or contribute to continuous improvement and six sigma project teams.
  • Support plant safety initiatives through active involvement in the safety process.
  • Support plant quality initiatives and industry standards compliance through active participation in the plant quality strategy.
  • Develop and ensure compliance to all ISO9001 regulations for metallurgical process.
  • Collaborate with EHS Manager and ensure compliance to all environmental and safety procedures of plant operations.
  • Maintain and classify all data and perform regular analysis of same to resolve issues.
  • Keep up-to-date on industry requirements and advancements.

  • QUALIFICATIONS 
  • Prefer BS degree in Metallurgical Engineering or Materials Science, or other related technical science field. Three+ years engineering experience in manufacturing environment, preferably in aluminum casting, injection molding, machining, or light assembly.
  • Excellent analytical skills (statistical data analysis experience is a plus).
  • Experience managing technical projects/initiatives in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communicator.

    Quality Engineer

    POSITION SUMMARY 

    Establishes, implements, monitors and audits quality systems and procedures to IATF16949 (ISO/TS16949) and customer requirements. Coordinates and implements Quality activities, including launch and maintenance of product/process with other departments. Coordinates overall launch processes in accordance with AIAG Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and/or customer requirements.    

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Develop and research new processes or improvements to existing processes, tooling and equipment, including gauging techniques.
  • Analyze gauging requirements per customer specifications, as well as cost along with researching alternative methods.
  • Develop and implement quality plans including AIAG APQP, work instructions and inspection requirements to IATF16949 and customer requirements.
  • Assure existing or new tooling and equipment meets both customer and Madison-Kipp requirements utilizing statistical techniques, tolerance analysis, process studies, etc.
  • Serve as team member of production personnel troubleshooting operational issues.
  • Assist in the assembly and/or installation of gauging systems and other equipment.
  • Compile data and report-out on plant operations.
  • Coordinate and maintain corrective action systems, both internal and external.
  • Coordinate, conduct and maintain internal and external audits to IATF16949, customer and internal requirements.
  • Coordinate or participate in launch process, including budgets, Failure Mode Effects Analysis process reviews, gauging, reliability goals, etc.
  • Travel to customer or supplier facilities may be required.  
  • Attend annual training to remain current with industry standards.
     
  • QUALIFICATIONS 
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or hard Science, with two or more years of quality/engineering experience.
  • American Society of Quality (ASQ) status of Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE) or Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) preferred. Without certification, a minimum of four years of experience is required.
  • Require strong communication skills with all levels of management, as well as strong organization and computer skills.

    Environmental, Health & Safety Manager

    POSITION SUMMARY 

    This position is responsible for establishing, developing, and improving EHS activities throughout Madison-Kipp Corporation. The emphasis for this position is Safety. This role will act as a resource for employees and management to obtain information and technical assistance with regard to Environmental, Health, & Safety (EHS) issues.  This role will collect information and prioritize needs to reduce risk, limit company liability, and cut worker compensation costs. Serves as company resource in all aspects of EHS as well as recommends and participates in policy making and decisions. 

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Monitors company compliance with Federal, State, & Local EHS laws implementing or providing recommendations to ensure compliance and systematic sustainability. 
  • Actively heads off safety issues and concerns for employees. 
  • Directs EHS improvement strategies: 
              -Drive the Safety Support Initiative (Continuous Improvement Program)
              -Conduct accident investigations with follow-up as necessary
              -Conduct new hire safety orientation
              -Complete necessary job safety analysis
              -Establish a safety audit program and its sustainability
  • Evaluate safety training needs and coordinates with department managers and supervisors for implementation of needed/required training.
              -Conducts training, i.e. Hazard Communication, lockout/tagout, forklift, etc.
  • Organize required inspections: Crane, Fire Department, OSHA, EPA/DNR.
  • Maintain appropriate regulatory documentation including the MSDS information system
  • Responsible for managing environmental performance:
              -Remediation activities such as coordinating Groundwater treatment, soil vapor extraction, and other activity.
              -Risk Reduction which includes developing, managing, and directing projects which improve our environmental risks
              -Sustainability which includes proposing, implementing, and directing activity to become a more environmentally sustainable company. 
  • Act as the lead ISO 14001 Management Representative 
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment. 
  • Performs other related duties as assigned. 
     
  • QUALIFICATIONS 
  • Four-year degree in safety-related field or equivalent work experience in manufacturing.   
  • Possess or has the ability to obtain ASP (CSP preferred) certification within four years.   
  • Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills within all levels of the organization. Demonstrated effective training ability. 
  • Must be familiar with Safety regulations; familiarity with Environmental regulation a plus. 
  • Possess strong computer skills and competent in spreadsheet, database, and word processing skills.
