Gibbs Die Casting Seeks Director of Advanced Engineering

LEAD THE ADVANCED PRODUCT ENGINEERING INITIATIVES WITH THE CUSTOMERS TO DEVELOP INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS TO MEET THEIR PRODUCT REQUIREMENTS.
PRIMARY TECHNICAL LIAISON WITH CUSTOMERS REGARDING NEW MECHANICAL PRODUCTS, INNOVATION AND TECHNOLOGIES.
EXAMINE AND INTERPRET TECHNICAL PRINTS, DRAWINGS, MODELS, SPECIFICATIONS, AND COMPUTER-GENERATED REPORTS PERTAINING TO STATEMENTS OFREQUIREMENTS (SOR'S), DESIGN FAILURE MODE AND EFFECT ANALYSIS (DFMEA), AND PROCESS FAILURE MODE EFFECTS ANALYSIS (PFMEA)
WORK DIRECTLY WITH THE MANUFACTURING ENGINEERING DEPARTMENTS AT CUSTOMERS' PLANTS TO EVALUATE THE DESIGN FOR MANUFACTURABILITY, PROCESS REQUIREMENTS AND PRODUCT SPECIALIZATIONS.
APPLY THE ADVANCED PRODUCT QUALITY PLANNING (APQP) PROCESS FOR ADVANCED ENGINEERING REQUIREMENTS.
DEVELOP AND MANAGE A THIRD PARTY ENGINEERING SOURCE FOR RAPID PROTOTYPES, CAD/CAE PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS FOR EARLY DESIGN CHANGES AND MODIFICATIONS.
SUPPORT AND COORDINATE THE COST ESTIMATING AND QUOTATION PROCESSES REGARDING ENGINEERING DESIGN, SPECIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS, DESIGN FILES, ETC.
CONFER WITH ENGINEERS AND OTHER KEY PERSONNEL ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF DISRUPTIVE/HYBRID PRODUCTS AND PROCESSES FOR EXISTING AND NEW MARKETS.
PROVIDES INTERCHANGE OF TECHNICAL INFORMATION BETWEEN CUSTOMERS AND INTERNAL DEPARTMENTS OF SALES, MARKETING, OPERATIONS, EXECUTIVE MANAGEMENT AND ENGINEERING
DEVELOP AND COORDINATE WITH PROGRAM MANAGEMENT AND OTHER INTERNAL DEPARTMENTS TO ENSURE SUCCESSFUL PROGRAM LAUNCHES AND APQP DEVELOPMENT.
DRIVE INNOVATION THROUGH SUCCESSFUL MARKET INTRODUCTION OF NEW OR ENHANCED PRODUCTS OR TECHNOLOGIES, ANALYZE CURRENT AND TARGET CUSTOMERS' PRODUCT NEEDS, INCLUDING COMPETITOR ANALYSIS, AND DETERMINE AND IMPLEMENT INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS
LEAD THE DEVELOPMENT AND PRESENTATION OF CUSTOMER TECH REVIEWS FOR THE DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF NEW MECHANICAL PROGRAMS, DEVELOP STRATEGIC RELATIONSHIPS WITH CUSTOMER ENGINEERING AND TECHNICAL GROUPS, INCLUDING MATERIALS, PRODUCT ENGINEERING, VALIDATION AND TESTING.
SIGNIFICANT TRAVEL TO SUPPORT CUSTOMER DEVELOPMENT IN THE UNITED STATES (PARTICULARLY IN METRO DETROIT, SOUTH EAST MICHIGAN, NORTHERN OHIO AND INDIANA) AS WELL AS CANADA, HUNGARY AND EUROPE. THIS POSITION ALSO REQUIRES FREQUENT INTERACTION WITH GIBBS' FACILITIES IN KENTUCKY AND HUNGARY. PERIODIC INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL TO SUPPORT GLOBAL CUSTOMER PROGRAMS AND REQUIREMENTS.
PROFICIENCY IN CAD/CAE TOOLS; EXPERIENCE USING MOLD FLOW ANALYSIS TOOLS SUCH AS MAGMA OR EKK; EXPERIENCE AND TECHNICAL UNDERSTANDING OF HIGH PRESSURE DIE CASTING, MACHINING AND ASSEMBLY PROCESSES; PROFICIENCY IN MICROSOFT OFFICE SOFTWARE INCLUDING WORD, EXCEL, AND POWERPOINT.
