As you know, die casting is both a thermal and mechanical process. To successfully produce die castings both processes must be accounted for and related to each other. This course will provide the die caster with an understanding of how to calculate metal flow and solidification; along with how to select the optimal machine size for the casting. In 2015 Professor Al Miller developed the new gating equation to calculate the maximum flow time for molten metal. This course will teach the new gating equation and how to utilize it in the PQ2 method.
