SUMMARY: 

  
Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in Die Maintenance and Repair at our Harrison Division located in Harrison, AR.  Plans and supervises the training of less skilled employees.  Develops and implements methods and procedures which enable Die Maintenance and Repair staff to meet or exceed production and quality expectations.

Our die cast parts are used in automobiles, motorcycles, generators, snow mobiles, lawn mowers, washing machines, power hand tools, BBQ grills, commercial lighting and many other well-known products.  The Harrison Division started as a small die caster in the mid 1960’s serving a variety of niche markets.  Since then, we have become a recognized industry leader in thin-wall die castings while also serving more traditional casting applications.  In addition to traditional die cast services, the Harrison Division provides more specialized support and secondary services including CNC machining, high speed dedicated machining centers, and product assembly. 
  
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  
Plans, schedules and coordinates the tasks performed by the Die Maintenance and Repair department.  Communicates expected completion times and schedule changes to the Casting Department supervisors, and others as appropriate. 

Prepares tool tags and evaluates tool tags received from Manufacturing and Engineering Departments.  Determines whether tool work should be performed in-house or procured from outside suppliers.  

Examines blueprints to determine tool requirements and special materials or items to be ordered. 

Consults with Engineering, Quality, Casting and Finishing staff in the design of tooling used in production and inspection activities.  Calculates and records tool requirement data on tooling order, and routes DEE information to Project Engineering. 

Prepares requisitions for items to be purchased for the Die Maintenance and Repair department. 

Applies company policies to workers, writes performance appraisals, and enforces disciplinary procedures and safety regulations. 

Estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignments and ensures that tasks are completed effectively and on time, consistent with production schedule requirements. 

Adjusts priorities, and keeps others appropriately informed, to meet production schedules. 

Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product. 

Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase the efficiency of the shop, the department, or the work crew. 

Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems. 

Is responsible for the proper maintenance of dies and trim dies. 

Maintains an adequate spare parts inventory of die repair components. 

Establishes training priorities for the die maintenance department. 
  
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: 
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or eight (8) years related experience and/or training in tooling design, maintenance, repair and manufacturing; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

What you need to succeed: 
Technical skills: 
Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering or an Engineering Technology related field. 
Hands-on experience in high volume/low margin manufacturing, die casting or metal industry preferred. 
Familiarity with strategy deployment (policy deployment or Hoshin Kanri). 
Demonstrated ability to apply and execute lean tools and methodologies. 
Experience utilizing structured problem solving tools, including Six Sigma. 
Knowledge of TS16949 and ISO14001. 
Experience with APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plans, and Process Flow.
