Value Assessment Survey
Dear Die Casting Industry Professional:
A value Assessment survey is being conducted to determine the “value’ that the Die Casting industry places
on various aspects of their business. Furthermore, it attempts to evaluate the industry’s view on the
products/services which NADCA offers in response to these various aspects of business. Please take five or
six minutes to fill in the anonymous survey. It will help NADCA shape the direction it takes in providing
products/services to the die casting industry.

survey.
Key Senate Vote on Global Warming
On Thursday, June 10, the Senate will consider S. J. Res. 26, a Congressional Review Act Resolution of
Disapproval introduced by Senators Lisa Murkowski. This bipartisan resolution would prevent the
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) from moving forward with its plan to regulate green house gas (GHG)
emissions from stationary sources under the Clean Air Act. NADCA encourages you to contact your Senators
to let them know of the negative impact of these pending EPA regulations on the die casting industry, and
ask them to support S. J. Res. 26.
Climate change is a global problem that can only be addressed effectively on a global basis. EPA's move to
regulate greenhouse gases from stationary sources under the Clean Air Act will not address the global
dimension of the climate change issue, but will place significant new burdens on die casters in the United
States. This will unilaterally raise regulatory costs, while allowing overseas competitors to continue to
increase their emissions. The result would be no environmental gain and likely lead to closures of die
casting facilities, as well as the elimination of manufacturing jobs.
The Resolution currently has 41 cosponsors, including three Democrats - Lincoln (Ark.), Landrieu (La.),
and Nelson (Neb.). Only nine more votes are needed to get to the 51 needed for passage. Hill staff has
indicated that Senators Rockefeller (D-WVA), Conrad (D-ND) and Dorgan (D-ND) are likely to support as
well. Here is the link to see if your Senator is a sponsor -

USITC WILL CONDUCT FULL "SUNSET" REVIEWS CONCERNING MAGNESIUM FROM CHINA AND RUSSIA
The U.S. International Trade Commission (USITC or Commission) has voted to conduct full five- year
("sunset") reviews concerning the antidumping duty orders on magnesium from China and Russia (Inv. Nos.
731-TA-1071-1072 (Review)).
As a result of these votes, the Commission will conduct full reviews to determine whether revocation of
these orders would be likely to lead to continuation or recurrence of material injury within a reasonably
foreseeable time.
The Uruguay Round Agreements Act requires the Department of Commerce to revoke an antidumping or
countervailing duty order, or terminate a suspension agreement, after five years unless the Department of
Commerce and the USITC determine that revoking the order or terminating the suspension agreement would be
likely to lead to continuation or recurrence of dumping or subsidies (Commerce) and of material injury
(USITC) within a reasonably foreseeable time.

Is Branding Relevant in Today's B2B Market?
Equipped with the same tools that we have, foreign companies have targeted the largest American companies
to make their products. What would entice the American companies? Obviously, price, getting the goods in a
timely manner, good or equal quality and rapid communication. Because of the dawn of the computer age,
these criteria can be met by any company anywhere in the world.
The only winner in a fierce competitive market is the consumer. In a capitalistic society, the main goal
is to have quality cheap goods readily available to the public. Now, what the American companies have to
do is to figure out how they can compete profitably. To learn more about how to compete profitably in the
