EXCO Chooses Delcam's PowerMILL for Die Manufacturing
BIRMINGHAM, UK, Mar 08, 2010 - NC programmers at die manufacturer EXCO are now phasing out
several different brands of CAM software in favour of the flexibility and capability of
Delcam’s PowerMILL CAM system. This decision followed a six-month evaluation of products
from six leading CAM developers to determine how they could help EXCO achieve its goals in
boosting productivity and quality.

House Passes Jobs Bill 217-201
The Washington Post reports, "The House voted 217 to 201 to
approve a $15 billion measure that would give tax breaks to companies for hiring new
employees. Six Republicans joined the vast majority of Democrats in supporting the bill,"
though the Post adds that "more than 30 Democrats voted against the measure. Liberals
complained that it is too small and too focused on tax cuts rather than on spending." NBC
Nightly News noted that the bill now must be reconciled with the Senate version before it
can go on to the President's desk for signature."
The AP reports
that passage came "despite doubts among many lawmakers that
it will create many jobs," as "some Democrats feel the approximately $35 billion jobs bill
is too puny, while others say the tax cut for new hires won't generate many new jobs.
However, the pressure is on to address jobs and deliver a badly needed win for President
Barack Obama and a Democratic Party struggling in opinion polls and facing major losses in
the upcoming midterm elections." Adds the AP, "Further jobs measures are promised." The New York Times says
"Democrats, bracing for new jobless figures," are trying "to show that
Congress was doing something about stubborn unemployment."

truck from Montreal to Peterborough, general manager Herve Mallet said.
"The transfer will
start in April and will be completed by the end of May," Mallet said.
"That's going to be about 20 trucks coming to the plant."

DCE Wants Your Advice: Secondary Ops
In every issue of Die Casting Engineer, readers report on tips they use to improve,
implement or sustain a process. The tips are then compiled into a list and printed in the
magazine for the benefit of all the readers.
Here is this month’s question relating to die casting design: “List the most popular
secondary operations implemented in a die casting facility” If you have some insight on this

NADCA Technical Archives Free to Members!
The North American Die Casting Association (NADCA) is staying ahead of the technological
curve by expanding its Technical Archive. NADCA’s Technical Archive allows members and
non-members to search and download Die Casting Engineer magazine articles, NADCA research
reports and Congress Transactions.
Die Cast Engineer technical articles are available from 1988 through the present. Congress
Transactions since 1960 are searchable and contain virtually all papers from each Die
Casting Congress for the past 50 years. In addition, research reports — some dating back to
1959 — on the die casting industry are also available.
The Technical Archive can be searched by category (DCE Reports, Transactions) and/or by
keyword. Search results will yield basic information — title, author, abstract, year
published. DCE articles from 1988 to present and all Transactions are downloadable directly
from the site (non-members will receive a pdf of the document once their order has been
processed). DCE articles prior to 1988, and all reports are available via e-mail.
This valuable resource is free for members. Non-members can also search the archives, and
the fee to obtain each document is $20.
