Prepare for Greenhouse Gas Regulations: Read the NADCA Report
Greenhouse gas emissions will not always be free. Eventually every business in the
United States will pay for their greenhouse gas emissions. To educate the industry and
prepare for this scenario NADCA has conducted a survey of the die casting industry and
its carbon footprint. The results show that the average die casting facility emits
roughly 100 times more CO2 emissions than the theoretical minimum. In addition, the
average die caster emits over 5 times more CO2 per pound of shipped casting than the
best 10% of die casting facilities surveyed. Clearly, there is a large opportunity to
reduce the carbon footprint of the industry. The survey results show that increasing
your energy efficiency equals a reduction of your carbon footprint. This means many of
the best ways to reduce your carbon footprint also have the possibility to increase your
profitability.
Learn the top five ways to reduce your carbon footprint and increase your profitability
by reading the full report in the January issue of the Die Casting Engineer
magazine. After reading the full report get the most recent developments on the pending
regulations, climate science, and ways to prepare by attending the 2010 Executive
Conference.

2010 BMW S1000RR First Ride
‘The Ultimate Driving Machine.’ BMW has touted such a statement to describe its
four-wheeled vehicles for decades. And for good reason. The German firm’s line of cars,
from family sedans to M performance machines, has always been on the cutting edge of
performance and drivability. Could the same be said for their motorcycles, though? In a
true sporting sense, No. While they have dominated areas like adventure riding with its
GS line and long-distance touring with the LT range, a purebred sportbike has always
eluded the Bavarian brand, something that has perplexed us for years. Until now. Enter
the 2010 BMW S1000RR.

Engineering a Healthy and Productive Workforce
As medical claims and prescription drug costs rise, so do the anxiety levels of
employees and employers. A balanced assessment of total costs (including the
implications of absenteeism and presenteeism) when determining where to invest precious
resources will go a long way to lowering everyone’s blood pressure and achieving the
greatest return on one’s health care investment. A recent study published in the Journal
of Occupational and Environmental Medicine revealed that on average, for every dollar
spent on medical and pharmacy costs, employers lose $2.30 in health-related productivity
costs, largely due to absence and presenteeism. Click here

importance of examining the big picture when considering the health and productivity of
your workforce.
