Last spring, close to 400 manufacturers from across the United States came to the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) Manufacturing Summit in Washington to meet with lawmakers and make the case for job creation and competitiveness. With pending legislation, continuing high unemployment numbers and the elections in November, the stakes will be higher than ever. It is vital for manufacturers to visit congressional offices and emphasize the need for policies that will spur vigorous economic growth and reduce the cost of doing business — policies outlined in the NAM’s “A Manufacturing Renaissance – Four Goals for Economic Growth.”
